So if you haven't seen the top five books to read this year, pop on over there (just click the link) and read the description of the Unwind series. Now. on to the fun stuff.
Unwind is a AWESOME series that everyone should totally read. If you've read it, then this post is for you. If you haven't, then GO READ IT NOW AND COME BACK AND READ THIS!!! Thank you.
So. I'll talk about each book in order, so if you've only read the first book, then only read the first part and so on. Sorry about this, but I'll be skipping around quite a bit. This isn't a total review of the book, its just a few of the most important and disturbing parts. Enjoy.
BOOK 1: UNWIND:
So this is the start of it all. I just reread it, and there were a couple things I totally forgot about. Like what eventually happened to the baby. OK, a quiz. Raise your hand if you know the baby's name. (Please don't say "What baby?") Thats one point to you. Its Didi. Now, raise your other hand if you know what happened to her, cause they obviously didn't keep her. (Hey! I didn't tell you to put your other hand down! Keep it up!). So a million points to you if you remembered what happened to her and haven't read the book in over three months. Because I didn't remember. So for your information, the baby went with the teacher, Hannah. If you don't remember her, then reread the book. So, I think that most people agree that the most disturbing part of the book was when Rodney was unwound. They were like, "Well, now you may feel a tightness in your chest, but THAT'S OK!!" And "You won't be able to talk anymore, but THATS OK!!!" Like, weird. Also, the clapper who didn't clap!! Whoop whoop! I heart Lev. Anyways, leave a comment if you loved this book as much as I do, cause I give it an 8 out of 10 stars!!! (Hey! Keep that hand up!)
BOOK 2: UNWHOLLY:
So. We meet Starkey. My number one least favorite character. I wish SOMEONE would just KILL HIM.*** Also, incoming Cam. I love you Cam!! Yes, its a little creepy that he's basically Frankenstein. But c'mon, ya gotta love him for loving Risa then being dumped. ON LIVE TV. Don't tell me you still hate him. OK, lets get to the crazy part. Did anyone else have dramatic music playing in their head during the raid of the Graveyard? Its was more than sad. It was heartbreaking. Here I was, thinking everyone would be fine because they can just escape on the plane. AND. THEN. STARKEY. TOOK. OFF. WITHOUT. CONNOR. Him and his little army of storks. Humph. That was heart wrenching, but it gets worse. Hayden and his group are in that hot plane, and then that kid died, and Hayden shot out the window. Tear. AND THEN. The plane crashes, and Starkey leaves Trace to drown. What a muderous jerk. AND all those other 41 innocent kids died. OK, so I just recapped all those sad parts for you, but heres the good thing! This book got 7 out of 10 stars!!
BOOK 3: UNSOULED:
This book was pretty awesome. So very first thing, Conner gets scratched by a ostrich. Uh. Alright then. Anyway. So eventually Conner ends up getting captured by that creep Argent, then gets away with his clever little policeman disguise. Cool. OK THATS IT. We are skipping to the cool parts. There's CyFI's revival community, which I think is really, really creepy. The kid is alread unwound, there's really no need to make a bunch of people to leave their lives and families to be defined by
a…..body.....part. What. The. Heck. Weird. Then you have the Cold Springs thing. With, who else, but Starkey. I was just going along with it, and then they killed the camp leader. No, they "executed" him. That's sick. And Starkey made a random kid do it too. Ugh. Then there is the part that I find the worst in the whole series. MoonCrater. Starkey KILLS five staff members, but lets one go so she can spread the news. And you may have missed this part, but only ONE of them actually unwound kids. Sure, Starkey says: Starkey has no idea what their positions are here. Administrators, surgeons, cooks- it doesn't matter. To Starkey they're all the same. They're all unwinders. But later, Bam is questioning Starkey and she thinks: Five people. The boy's head counselor, a janitor, an office worker, a chop-shop nurse, and the chef's boyfriend, who was visiting the wrong place on the wrong weekend. That just makes me really sad. Oh, and then Bam finds out how Starkey made three girls "unwind proof for nine months." Again, sick. Then there's all about Conner and Lev and Cam. One part that was weird was when Una went after Cam with a chainsaw. I still don't like her. She's just a little too crazy for me. So then Conner and Cam find Risa and its really awkward because both of them are vying for her attention. Grace helps a bit. Grace is also a freaking genius!! When Roberta came to get Cam, she thought fast and saved them all. That was cool. One of my favorite lines is this: Roland's hand snaps together Legos just as efficiently as Conner's natural hand, proving it can create as well as it destroys. This shows us that there is another side to everybody (as we will also see in UnDivided). In the end, Sonia reveals the organ printer. Which is obviously the solution to everything, right? Right. I thought that was a little cheesy, but oh well. This book got 8 out of 10 stars.
BOOK 4: UNDIVIDED:
This book was one of the best endings to a series that I've ever seen. It tied up all the loose ends. Lev getting shot was heartbreaking, and I definitely didn't expect that. Conner being unwound, that was INTENSE. And Starkey's death was...wow. I was actually kinda upset. I felt really bad for him. Una marrying Will's hands was creepy to me, a little too weird. I was never sure if she was actually in love with Cam and marrying him, or really just marrying a pair of hands. In all, I loved UnDivided and I loved the whole Unwind series. UnDivided gets a 9 out of 10 stars. It was basically perfect.
*** ROR: Really Obvious Reference!! High five if you got it!!
Thanks for reading all the way through! As I mentioned at the top this post has been really hard to write and sorry about slacking off with the review of UnDivided. :( But yay! I finally finished!
