This is the top five books to read in 2015 and why. Here we go!
1. Ranger's Apprentice: If you don't already know *see first post* Ranger's Apprentice is one of my most favorite series ever. EVER!! I just love it so much, I can't even put it in words. John Flanagan is sooooo awesome. This series is medieval fiction, but with a twist. It focuses on the Rangers, a special force for the King. You have to be an apprentice before becoming a Ranger, hence the name. But don't worry, that's not what the whole series is about. Throughout the twelve books, there is about five different enemies and a bunch of characters. Just read it. I can't do it justice here. But be prepared: there's twelve mid-length books in the series.
2. The Unwind Series: This is a creepy in-the-future slightly dystopian series that is really amazing. It even shows how issues like abortion and racism might be solved in the future (and thats not always a good thing). The basic plot of this book is that unruly teens can be "unwound" with their parents permission and their parts reused. If I could rate these four books on a scale from 1-10, I would rate them like: Book one as a 6, book two as a 7, book three also as a 7, and book four as a 10. The books just keep getting better! And the last book wraps up the (numerous) loose ends so perfectly you don't even realize there was loose ends in the first place! Either way, I greatly recommend this four book series.
3.The Legend Series: This is a dystopian series in which everyone must participate in the Trial to decide their future. Another interesting concept in this is that it is in the future after climate change. The costal areas around the world are under water, and now the industrial centers of the world are in Africa, and Antarctica is home to a world power. This book focuses on two main characters, Day and June. June is a wealthy, military family girl and Day is a poor, criminal, street boy. They are thrown together through VERY unusual circumstances *chuckle chuckle* and from there, like always, everything changes.
4. Before I Fall: The only single book on the list, Before I Fall is a wonderful twist on the typical repeating day story. Basically, Sam is a popular girl at her school who has a "perfect" life when suddenly, one horrible day keeps repeating. Sounds typical, but the ending is SHOCKING. *zips lips* I'm not telling you anything more.
5. The Selection: I really love this series. In fact, a new book is coming out this March. Can't wait! I thought the third book was the last one….well, I'm not complaining. This is a romance, and…basically a romance. But it does have a few things going for it: corruption, rebels, secretive loves, and the works. The basic plot is that the prince selects 30 girls, and after spending time with them, narrows down the choices to just one, and marries her. The series follows the progression from all 30 girls, to three, then finallyto one. You may think the ending is pretty obvious but…its not. And you will cry. A lot. Bring tissues.
So that was the top five books to read in 2015. I'll give more suggestions later on in the year! Thanks for reading this all!
