Hi everybody! This is another one of my poems. This one won first place at my local library's contest. I was pretty upset that I didn't get to actually go to the contest because if you read your poem, you get a free book. And who doesn't love free books? Unfortunately, I had an orchestra concert that night so I couldn't go, and had to get the news from my sister. But anyway, here it is: Saved by the Bell I squint at the numbers on the sheet Trying, hard as I can To understand what all the x’s and y’s mean My stomach growls in protest I sigh Next hour is lunch The clock mocks me Moving slower and slower Time grinding to a halt Three minutes, two, one Only seconds now! Suddenly, everyone turns toward me “He asked you a question” My classmate whispers Motioning to the teacher Who stands grimly, arms crossed In front of the class I stammer, hands shaking But then, with a joyous tone Bring! Hey everybody! I decided to post another poem. I wrote this a while back, but this is one of my favorites. Fall is my favorite season by FAR, so I popped out this poem in no time. Hope you like it! :)
Fall Its here The crispness in the air The smell of Halloween The waft of cold air Every now and then The last of the yellow butterflies Flitting here and there Green is fading yellow Memories of Cold bus stop mornings The smell of burning wood Bundling up For a trip outside Cold nights, spent huddled Under a blanket Go outside And experience Pumpkin carving, leave-jumping cozy little Fall So this is my first post on the writing section of this blog, and I'm posting a poem I wrote a little while back. Its called Laughter. Here we go! Laughter A gurgly chuckle Falls from a newborns mouth Giggles escape From the toddler's hiding spot Chuckling snorts frim The indignant five year old princess Sneaky snickers From the big kid (at nine) sneaking down the hall Snorts from holding it in The teen with friends Tears escaping as laughter pours out The "was a baby just yesterday" Leaving for college Smiles, nervous giggles The newlywed Leg-slapping laughter The thirty-somethings Over last nights silly fight Laughter soon to come Forty, money problems Sigh and laugh Over the hill Crows feet around eyes Barely sixty The grandkids, acting oblivious Forcing peals of laughter From kids and seventies alike Weak giggles Remembering the good old days, eighty Barely there chuckles Hanging on nineties Last Laugh Goodbye, 101 Hope you like it!
