Hi everybody! This is another one of my poems. This one won first place at my local library's contest. I was pretty upset that I didn't get to actually go to the contest because if you read your poem, you get a free book. And who doesn't love free books? Unfortunately, I had an orchestra concert that night so I couldn't go, and had to get the news from my sister. But anyway, here it is: Saved by the Bell I squint at the numbers on the sheet Trying, hard as I can To understand what all the x’s and y’s mean My stomach growls in protest I sigh Next hour is lunch The clock mocks me Moving slower and slower Time grinding to a halt Three minutes, two, one Only seconds now! Suddenly, everyone turns toward me “He asked you a question” My classmate whispers Motioning to the teacher Who stands grimly, arms crossed In front of the class I stammer, hands shaking But then, with a joyous tone Bring!
